Map(s) for Savage : The Battle for Newerth

Mini Map Overhead - Tropic Mayhem 2

Tropic Mayhem 2 ("tropic_mayhem2" custom map)

By Devon Varesko

Savage is a game by S2games that is now free for anyone, so anybody should be able to test out this map. You can download a client for free from Newerth.com.

I decided to make a new version of this map because of input I received on the first version from other players in the Newerth community. I started with a basic revision addressing the main issues, and submitted for review, got some more feedback, and followed more suggestions. And the result is an eye-catching map that has received a number of good comments.

This is my second version of this map. This map was also submitted to Newerth.com's maps database.

Install: same as other Savage maps, just place both the map file and overhead file into your world directory. A readme with these instructions is included.

I wanted to make a map that looked cool and played well at the same time. This map was also submitted to Newerth.com's maps database.

Placement of props, entities, and NPC's was with both aesthetic and strategic. The same holds true for the shape of the terrain. Small hills should allow the human team to hold dominance over a couple areas near the center of the map, to make up for some of the advantages it seems the beasts would have.

This map is meant to be played for approximately an hour or more, which is why secondary stone mines are in enclosed areas, hard to reach by either team.

The inclusion of spawn flags is just to make things more interesting.

Install: same as other Savage maps, just place both the map file and overhead file into your world directory. A readme with these instructions is included.

Troll Chieftains v1.04 - (A custom map for Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne)

By Devon Varesko

This is a survival-style RTS map for the game Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. (If you don't have this expansion, it won't work for you. Sorry.)

The map is set on an island, where various troll tribes are fighting for control, revenge, honor, etc. It is your job, as a leader of one of these tribes, to keep alive and keep your tribe strong, despite what your enemies bring to your... tents.

You can win by slaying all other tribes' leaders, or you will lose if your leader dies.

(Due to the time it was taking to complete, it is lacking some features I had wanted to add. I would like to add them in a future version.)

Troll Chieftains is my first Warcraft 3 map ever, but I think it's good, considering.

Want to try it? Download it!

Map(s) for Counter-strike: Source :

Map Layout Preview

This map is a multiplayer space ship level for Counter-Strike: Source. I used the Hammer world editor that Valve provides in their Software Development Kit (SDK). I designed the map, but others are responsible for creating textures and props (i.e. "models") used in the rooms. Still, I had to place these objects where they would work properly and look right, so it did take work to use these objects as well.

Most of the actual design work was mapping the rooms, walls, floors, ceilings, skybox areas, creating some objects from basic geometry (like the escape pods), assigning textures, creating the stairway, creating a fairly large crawlable ventilation system, making it all a working map (from what I could tell so far), and placing objects.

You can download this map from the downloads page on my main Lightfire website. Then just follow the included instructions to install it, and run it from CS:S by making a server with de_sspartan selected.

This map may not display some textures properly if you don't also have Half-Life 2 installed, as it uses materials from that game directory.
